At 6:21 am our journey started with the Flixtrain to Berlin. Less than 7 hours later, we exchanged the Stuttgart cityscape for that of the German capital. After arriving at the guest house of the YMCA in Kaulsdorf, we first moved into our rooms.

After we settled, our first item on the program agenda started right away: the Stasi Museum in Berlin-Hohenschönhausen

The former Stasi prison serves as a memorial today. The then central remand center, is now used to bring visitors the living conditions and reports of contemporary witnesses. Immediately afterwards, we made our way to the German Bundestag, because at that time an open-air cinema was broadcast on the reunification.

In the morning, a shopping tour was on the program at the KaDeWe. The group split up and we all made a leisurely shopping spree in the Kaufhaus des Westens (department store of the West) - probably the most famous department store in Germany.

Afterwards we were invited to the state representation of Baden-Württemberg, where many of us gained new exciting insights. The state representation is Baden-Württemberg's political representation and meeting place for politics, business, media and society. There is also the famous fireplace room, in which also the Chancellor with our Prime Minister leads the so-called "fireside chats".

Finally, we could strengthen ourselves with a small local snack, with Swabian pretzels and juices.

On Wednesday morning, we started our day with a visit to the Techniker Museum. The museum offers a multitude of interesting and surprising insights into the cultural history of technology. We learned some of the beginnings of aviation and shipping in Germany. From sailing to steam drive - after the museum visit we are now real professionals!

Remaining faithful to ships, we made afterwards a two-and-a-half-hour boat trip on the Spree. As the city center of Berlin and the new and old architecture are oriented towards the water, you can look at the city from a completely new perspective during the boat tour. On our tour, we could experience Berlin up close and comfortable from the water!

To strengthen ourselves we went to the Zollpackhof beer garden overlooking the Bundestag.

On our last program day, we made a tour of the Bundestag. Not only the history of the Bundestag but also the German electoral system was explained to us. Also in the Bundestag itself we could take a seat on one of the stands.

We checked out the Brandenburger Tor right after the Bundestag. After all, it is a must to visit it when you visit Berlin.

On our last day, we packed our belongings in the morning and left the inn. As we had a long journey home by train ahead of us. We ate together in a Greek restaurant. There we could exchange the impressions and experiences of the week. Afterward, we went back to Stuttgart together.

At this point, we would like to thank our trainees Mr. Siegert and Mr. Illi on behalf of the trainees, students and trainees for this great trip. We take many beautiful memories and impressions!
